LIRR Train Derailment after Two Crashes at Westbury Station Kills Three and Injures Many Others

Three people were killed and service was suspended along several Long Island Rail Road lines Tuesday night after officials say a Manhattan-bound train from Ronkonkoma struck a truck on the tracks near Westbury station.  LIRR confirmed that about 800 people were on board the train at the time of the accident.  The violent derailment sent several feet of that platform into the cabin of the westbound train’s forward car.  The eastbound LIRR train, carrying about 100 passengers, was pulling out of the Westbury station when the wrecked truck was sent into its path as well.

The attorneys at Morgan Levine Dolan have represented many people injured in mass transit accidents.  During the early stages of the investigation, it is imperative to get private attorneys involved in the process.  Too many times, the mass transit carrier performs the investigation and many pieces of evidence are either tampered with or ignored.

We have recovered millions of dollars for our injured clients.  If a loved one has been injured or killed in a train accident, contact Jared Levine of Morgan Levine Dolan at 212-785-5115 today.
