Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident In Queens

Gelasio Reyes, 32, of Queens, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run car while he was riding his bicycle in Sunnyside, Queens, officials said.

Christian Guiracocha, 25, was identified as the driver of the red Ford Focus that allegedly struck Reyes on 43rd Avenue and 39th Street. The driver continued on through the intersection and did not appear to stop. Authorities caught up with the vehicle near the Queens Midtown Expressway, which was less than a mile from the crash.

The driver was taken into custody, officials said. Guiracocha was charged with a DWI and it is unclear if the police will press for additional charges. The hit-and-run accident was still under investigation.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
