Two People Killed In Sunrise Highway Crash

Driver Ozcan Ayyidiz, 49, of Mastic Beach, and Kevin Melger, 23, of Brentwood, were killed when their car was driving in the wrong direction on Sunrise Highway in Brookhaven, Long Island, officials said. Another passenger, Jonathan Valladeres, 25, who was Melger’s cousin, was in critical condition.

Their white 2004 Infinit sedan was traveling eastbound on a westbound lane on the highway near Exit 57 when it hit a 2011 Chrysler van, officials said.

Melger was pronounced dead at the scene while Ayyidiz was later pronounced dead at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Valladeres was taken to the same hospital where he was being treated for critical injuries.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
