A bicyclist is seriously injured after he veered into the path of a city bus while trying to avoid an open car door in Brooklyn, officials said.
The accident happened at Broadway and Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg around 3:20 p.m. A driver in a parked car opened the door in front of the bicyclist though it was not clear if the cyclist was struck by the car door or swerved to get out of its way.
A B46 bus going in the same direction struck the cyclist. Emergency responders took the victim to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, police said.
