Pedestrian Fatally Struck On Queens Highway

A man was fatally struck when he attempted to cross the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens officials said.

The 67-year-old, whose name has not been released, was attempting to cross the highway from the northbound side near the Atlantic Avenue side when he was struck by a Chrysler Pacifica SUV, officials said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was treated for severe leg trauma. He was later pronounced dead from his injuries at the hospital, police said.

The 32-year-old driver of the Chrysler remained at the scene.

No immediate charges or arrests have been made. Police are still investigating.
