Driver Arrested After Fatally Striking UES Woman

Pjerin Gjerji, 48, of Yorktown Heights, was arrested and charged with failing to yield and exercise due caution in the car accident that killed Blanca Pagan, 73, of the Upper East Side, officials said.

Pagan was attempting to cross the street at East 89th Street and York Avenue when Gjerji made a right-turn and struck her.

She was taken to New York Hospital where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

Gjerji remained at the scene though he was later arrested and charged.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
