Desray Leroy, 23, was killed in a Queens car crash after she and six people piled into a five-passenger car and struck another vehicle at Linden Boulevard in South Ozone Park, officials said.
Leroy and her friends were returning home after a surprise birthday party for her sister, Stephanie, 21.
The victim had sat in a rear passenger’s lap alongside her sister and five friends in a five-passenger Audi A6.
According to police, a green Honda Civic struck the Audi at Linden Boulevard and 120th Street. The impact sent the Audi rolling over three times.
Leroy was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she died from her injuries, officials said. The Audi’s 24-year-old male driver was treated for a broken femur. He and the other passengers were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The Honda’s driver, Ray Mouton, 53, was charged with unlicensed driving. No immediate charges or arrests were made for the Audi driver.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
