An 80-year-old man was seriously injured after his SUV backed into him on the Cross Bronx Expressway, officials said.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, had pulled over onto the shoulder of the highway near Jerome Avenue because he had run out of gas, police said. He was unaware that his car was not in park when he got out of the car and went behind it. The car rolled backwards over him, witnesses and police said.
The man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
