Two Pedestrians Fatally Struck In Brooklyn Hit-And-Run Crash

Two pedestrians were fatally struck after a hit-and-run driver struck them in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, officials said. Delman Maldonado, 41, and Israel Turcios, 56, were crossing Fulton Street near Chestnut Street when the driver slammed into them.

Maldonado was pronounced dead at the scene while Turcios was transported to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition. However, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Driver Efrin Lanfranco-Perez, 21, turned himself into police and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident without reporting a serious physical injury or death and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

After striking the pedestrians, Lanfranco-Perez continued to drive his Acura TL sedan until he slammed into several parked cars and stopped underneath an elevated subway track. He jumped out of the car and fled the scene by foot, police said.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
