Two people were hurt when an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) arn over them on the beach at Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways, officials said.
The driver, who was on beach patrol at the time, swerved to avoid hitting a lifeguard stand but ended up hitting two men lying on beach towels.
One man suffered a head injury while the other suffered cuts to his arms and back. Both men were able to walk to an attending ambulance.
