At Least Fourteen People Injured After FDNY Truck Crashes Into Bus

At least 14 people were injured when an FDNY truck collided with an MTA bus while on making its way to the scene of a fire, officials said. The accident occurred around 12 p.m. at the intersection of Ditmars Boulevard and 21st Street.

Two firefighters and 12 civilians were hurt with non-life threatening injuries, officials said. One of the firefighters was treated for head and neck injuries at NewYork Presbyterian-Queens Hospital while the other was treated for cuts to the back of his head at Elmhurst Hospital Center, officials said. The twelve injured passengers on the bus were transported to Elmhurst Hospital.

Vanessa Torres was one of the injured people on the bus. She told reporters that she was knocked unconscious by the impact.

Witnesses and officials said the fire truck had its emergency lights and siren on at the time of the crash. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

In a separate accident on the same day, a fire engine crashed into a blue four-door sedan at 21st Street and 21st Avenue, officials said. A woman in the sedan was hurt.
