Woman Killed, 3 Injured In Bronx Car Crash

Elizabeth Wimmer, 58, of Hull Avenue, Bronx, was killed after she was struck by a car going in the opposite direction near Webster Avenue and 233rd Street at 7:47 p.m., officials said. Wimmer was driving with her 5-year-old granddaughter, April, and her 10-year-old sister.

When emergency responders arrived, they found the woman unconscious. She was taken to North Central Bronx Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her grandchildren were taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

The driver in the other car, a 73-year-old woman, was traveling northbound on Webster Avenue, when for an unspecified reason, she had crossed the double yellow lines of the southbound lanes and struck Wimmer’s vehicle. The driver was taken to Jacobi Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
