Fatal Crash Victim Identified In Carle Place Accident

Det. Joseph G. Skowronski, 65, a retired Nassau County police detective, has been identified as the victim of the fatal pedestrian car accident in Carle Place, police said. Skowronski was attempting to cross on foot Old Country Road near Cherry Lane when he was struck by a 1995 Nissan Maxima at around 3:40 p.m.

Skowronski was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained from the incident.

The driver, an 18-year-old man whose name has not been released, remained at the scene. He did not sustain any injuries.

Police do not believe the accident was criminal in nature. The investigation is ongoing.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
