Woman Killed By Car Backing Into Parking Space

Mary Jo Myszelow, 76, died after being struck by a driver who was backing into a parking spot on the Upper East Side, officials said. The incident happened near Madison Avenue and 95th Street at 5:50 p.m.

 

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim conscious with head injuries. She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

 

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was driving northbound on Madison Avenue when the driver noticed the parking spot. Right when the driver was backing the vehicle into the space, he struck Myszelow, who was attempting to cross Madison Avenue midblock from east to west, according to police.

 

The driver remained at the scene. No arrests or charges have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
