Oscar Reyes-Contereras, 37, of Levittown was killed after he was struck by a tractor trailer on the Long Island Expressway in Plainview, officials said.
Reyes-Contereras had been driving on the Long Island Expressway near exit 45 when he lost control of his vehicle. The 2007 Ford Mustang struck a guardrail, re-entered the roadway and was then struck by a tractor trailer, police said.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found Reyes-Contereras pinned inside the vehicle. They were able to extricate the victim and transport him to a local hospital. He was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.
The tractor trailer driver, a 45-year-old man whose identity has not been released, stayed at the scene. The truck passed a brake and safety inspection. No arrests are charges have been made.
