Elderly Woman Fatally Struck On Staten Island

Mary Cerqua, 73, of Eltingville, was fatally struck by a driver on Tuesday morning, officials said. She was crossing Hylan Boulevard and Wilman Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. when the driver made a left turn onto Hylan Boulevard and struck her, police said.

She was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, Deborah Pecoraro, 54, remained at the scene. She faced charges of failing to yield to a pedestrian and failing to exercise due care, police said.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
