Madeline Bengochea, 48, was hit by a speeding car on her way home from the supermarket in the Bronx on Monday night, according to police. The accident happened at Williamsbridge Road near Hone Avenue around 8 p.m.
Bengochea was crossing in the middle of the street with her walker when she was hit by an older model white sedan. She was not in the crosswalk when she was hit, police said. The car never came back to the scene.
Bengochea was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.
“It’s still unreal to me,” said Kimberly Salva, 20, the daughter of Bengochea. “They didn’t stop whatsoever. They had no mercy.”
