Medford Woman Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

Kathy Horan, 61, was arraigned with two felony charges for leaving the scene of an accident, which resulted in the death of a man and injured three others in Medford on Friday night, according to reports. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a fatality, and leaving the scene involving a serious injury.

That evening, Peter Quoma, 28, of Selden, had exited his car to speak with the owner – a 58-year-old Lake Grove woman – of a parked vehicle he struck. Both individuals stood outside of their vehicle on Granny Road when a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe heading eastbound on the street struck them and their cars around 8:21 p.m.

Horan, the driver of the Hyundai, fled the scene, officials said.

Quoma was rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The owner of the parked vehicle is being treated for serious injuries at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.

There were two passengers inside Quoma’s car after the initial crash. They were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

Horan was uninjured when she was located and arrested at an undisclosed location.

For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
