Two Child Passengers Injured After Drunk Woman Crashes Car In L.I.

Latanya Mowatt, 25, of Deer Park was involved in a car crash that sent her 6-year-old niece flying out of the vehicle and also injured her 8-year-old daughter, officials said. The allegedly drunk woman was driving her 2004 Nissan Maxima on Brookdale Avenue when she lost control of her car and crashed into a utility pole and two unoccupied parked vehicles in Bay Shore on Friday afternoon, police said.

Mowatt and the two girls were rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where they suffered non-life threatening injuries although the 6-year-old girl sustained serious internal injuries, police said.

The mother was arrested and charged with an aggravated drunk while intoxicated felony charge and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
