Three Injuries Reported In Three-Car Accident On L.I.

Three people were injured after an accident involving three cars on Sunrise Highway on Tuesday morning, officials said.

A 36-year-old man was driving his Nissan Altima westbound on Sunrise Highway at around 6:35 a.m. when he lost control of his car, crossed a median onto the other side, and struck a Hyundai Elantra. The collision caused the Elantra to strike a Nissan Pathfinder on the eastbound lane. Both drivers in the subsequent cars were female, and only identified as being 55-years-old.

The two women were taken to a local hospital and were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The man was rushed to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition, police said.

The Nissan Altima and the Hyundai Elantra were taken to a pound for brake and safety checks. The Nissan Pathfinder was taken from the scene by a family member.

The investigation is ongoing.
