Six children and one adult were injured after their yellow school bus crashed with another vehicle and overturned in Brooklyn, police said. The accident occurred on Fourth Avenue and First Street in Park Slope at around 3 p.m., officials said.
The bus was driving along Fourth Avenue when it tried to make a left turn onto First Street, but was broadsided by a Mustang, officials said. The impact caused the bus to flip on its side.
The seven victims were rushed to New York Methodist Hospital. The six children suffered minor injuries while the adult was in serious but stable condition, officials said.
Multiple complaints have been made about the intersection, and the bus crash marks the third motor vehicle accident in the last five weeks.
“It’s basically just a backwater highway that people feel free to drive on as fast as they want to,” community board member Joanna Oltman Smith said. “This is why we need more speed cameras. We need them urgently.”
Police were still investigating the cause of the accident. No charges or arrests have been made.
