2 Injured In Bay Shore Crash With Tractor Trailer

Two people were seriously injured after being extricated from their car, which was wedged under a tractor trailer on Friday morning in Bay Shore, Long Island, according to reports.

Billy David Goodman, 57, of Arkansas, was driving his tractor trailer on Sweeneydale Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto Fifth Avenue when a 2016 Lexus ran into him. The two people in the Lexus were pinned underneath the tractor trailer and had to be extricated, officials said.

The two people were taken to Southside Hospital and were treated for serious injuries. Goodman was unharmed.

Police were still investigating the cause of the accident.

The crash was one of several accidents that occurred around Eastern Suffolk County on Friday morning.

An accident on Montauk Highway claimed one life after a sports utility vehicle collided with a county bus. Almost simultaneously, a driver lost control in a separate accident on Route 51 in Northampton and crashed into a tree. The driver was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Several roads were closed due to weather conditions. One car reportedly skid on black ice and hit a guardrail which closed Route 105 in Riverhead. Route 48 in Mattituck and Route 24 in Flanders were closed due to icy conditions as well.
