Man Charged In Fatal Greenpoint Car Crash

Elroy Perez, 27, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged for the fatal car crash that claimed the life of his passenger in Greenpoint on Wednesday morning. Perez was under the influence of drugs and speeding when he crashed his car into the side of a tractor trailer that was getting out of a parking lot at 367 Vandervoort Avenue, officials said.

 

Diana Lemache, 26, who was the front seat passenger, was rushed to Woodhull Hospital with severe head trauma. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, officials said.

 

Perez suffered minor injuries from the crash. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, DWI, operating a motor vehicle impaired on drugs, reckless driving and speeding, police said.


The driver of the tractor trailer remained at the scene and sustained no injuries. The investigation was ongoing.
