Concrete Truck Injures 3 in Queens

A concrete-mixing truck struck and injured a mother and her two young children near Junction Boulevard and 55th Avenue in Elmhurst, Queens, police said. The incident occurred near  elementary school P.S. 13, which was close to dismissal time.

The family was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where the 36-year-old mother was treated for a severe leg injury, and her 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were treated for minor injuries. All were listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Corona Transit Mix truck made a right turn into the crosswalk where the family was crossing, police and witnesses said. The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene and was questioned by the police.
