Woman Fatally Struck By Dump Truck In Hunts Point

A woman was struck and killed by a commercial dump truck in the South Bronx last week. Floria Burton, 55, was crossing the street at Bryant and Seneca Avenues near her home around 8:30 a.m. She was pushing a laundry cart when the truck hit her, officials said.

Burton was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, but later died from her injuries, officials said.

According to witnesses, she may have been on the phone at the time of the accident and did not see the truck coming.

The 44-year-old truck driver, whose identity has not been released, stayed at the scene of the accident. No charges or arrests have been made.
