Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Queens Car Accident; 11th Victim Since Halloween

A 68-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a car while attempting to cross the street in South Ozone Park on Saturday night, officials said. He was one of 11 pedestrians who have been fatally struck in car accidents since Halloween.

 

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was trying to run across South Conduit Avenue in the crosswalk at 130th Street when he was hit by a driver of a Ford sedan. The driver told investigators that he tried to avoid the pedestrian, but ended up hitting him with his bumper on the driver’s side.

 

Emergency responders rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, however, he died from his injuries.

 

The driver remained at the scene. No arrests or charges have been made.
