Pregnant Mom Dies From Fatal Car Crash In Staten Island

A pregnant mom died after being fatally struck by a car on Staten Island, officials said. Shannon Lies, 31, was leaving her job as a waitress at Mike’s Place Diner in Annandale when a car going westbound on Hylan Boulevard hit her at about 11 p.m. on Monday.

“She just left work and was going to get the bus and got hit,” Fran Saccone, Lies’ coworker, said. “She wanted to get home because she has two little girls at home. It’s a real tragedy for us.”

Lies was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital South where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

The 54-year-old driver continued for about a block before returning back to the scene, officials said. The driver was not hurt. No charges have been made.
