Two Motorcyclists Killed After Separate Car Crashes In L.I.

Two motorcyclists were killed in two separate accidents involving car collisions on Long Island on Sunday evening, according to reports.

 

Victor Cinelli, 55, of Bohemia died on Sunday evening when his motorcycle collided with a car in Ronkonkoma. The accident happened at 7:40 p.m. at Portion Road and Holbrook Road, officials said.

 

Cinelli was riding his 1989 Honda motorcycle westbound on Portion Road when his bike was struck by a 1997 Toyota Avalon while the car was attempting to make a lefthand turn onto Holbrook Road.

 

Cinelli was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car, Abdullah Ozturk, 58, of Franklin Square was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with neck and back injuries.


The vehicles were impounded, and police are still investigating the accident.

 

A few hours later, another motorcyclist was killed in an alleged drunk-driving crash in Suffolk County.

 

Anthony Brody-Santos, 22, of Brentwood was driving his 1999 Nissan Altima on Washington Avenue in Brentwood when his car collided with a 2001 Honda motorcycle that was turning into Clarke Street.

 

Jose Funes, 47, of Brentwood, was driving the motorcycle and was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. He was pronounced dead at the hospital from the injuries sustained at the accident.

 

Brody-Santos was not injured in the crash. He was arrested and charged with a DWI. He was being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Central Islip, according to reports.
