Elisabeth Cutrone, 51, of Bethpage, was killed when her car collided with a pickup truck on the Wantagh State Parkway near Jones Beach on Saturday night, according to authorities. The accident occurred near the southbound lanes of the parkway, north of the Jones Beach toll booths.
Cutrone was driving a Jeep Cherokee when a Ford F-250 pickup truck attempted to make an illegal U-turn into the left lanes and slammed into her car, officials said. She died shortly after being airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), according to reports. Her husband, Douglas Cutrone, 42, was rushed to the same hospital and received treatment for a fractured hip.
Eugenio Taveras-Galindo, 35, of Westbury, who was the driver of the truck, and four of his passengers were treated at NUMC for minor injuries, officials said.
Taveras-Galindo has not been charged. The investigation is still ongoing.
For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
