A 45-year-old man from Holbrook was struck and killed by a Long Island Railroad (LIRR) train near the Ocean Avenue Crossing in Ronkonkoma early Wednesday morning, and another person, who has not yet been identified, was struck near the Port Jefferson station on Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.
LIRR officials said that the man who was struck and killed by a train in Ronkonkoma was “an unauthorized person on the tracks.” The train left Penn Station and was heading to Ronkonkoma when the incident happened at around 2:46 a.m.
The person struck by a train in Port Jefferson was taken to a local hospital. Authorities have not yet released information on the extent of his or her injuries.
For grieving families, it’s important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in train accidents.
