Two dead after multi-vehicle accident in New York

Sadly, multi-vehicle car accidents can have horrific results. What starts as a simple fender bender can quickly evolve into a devastating affair involving many vehicles and many victims. What’s more, many of these victims may suffer accident injuries. These injuries can range from the less severe, such as whiplash, scrapes, bruises and the like, to life altering and debilitating injuries such as brain trauma and spinal damage. Regardless of the severity, victims in car accidents involving negligent drivers have rights.

Two people were sadly killed and two were injured following a multi-vehicle accident in New York. According to reports, the accident occurred just before midnight on July 4. New York State Police released information that detailed how the crash began. The release said that a 24-year-old man was driving a Volkswagen sedan at a high speed when his vehicle struck a Honda. There were two passengers in the 24-year-old’s car.

As a result of the collision, the 29-year-old driver of the Honda lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the center guardrail. The Volkswagen then spun out, eventually striking a tractor trailer. The vehicle split in two upon striking the truck. Two of the passengers were sadly killed as a result. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Whether or not victims suffer non-life-threatening or fatal injuries in car accidents involving negligent drivers, it may be appropriate for victims or their families to pursue legal action. A successful negligence lawsuit can help these victims obtain compensation. Compensation may be used to alleviate the financial burdens associated with funeral costs, medical care, vehicle damage and the like.
