Worker at Dream New York Hotel in Midtown Falls Eight Stories to his Death from Scaffold

A worker fell to his death from scaffolding outside the Dream New York hotel in Midtown this afternoon, plummeting eight stories, cops said.  The man landed on top of a sidewalk shed covering the front entrance of the luxury hotel on W. 55th St., police and witnesses said.

This is the exact type of accident which the New York State Labor Law is in place to protect against.  This innocent worker was obviously not given the proper safety protection by the owner or general contractor of this building.  Under the current law, both these entities would be strictly liable for this preventable death.
