Teen killed, 2 injured in Queens crash near Rockaway Freeway and Beach 41st Street

A single-car crash Saturday in Far Rockaway left a 15 year-old dead and another in critical condition.

A 2009 Toyota Corolla carrying three teenagers spun out of control shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday. The passenger-side struck a concrete pillar that supports the elevated S train near Rockaway Freeway and Beach 41st St.

A 15 year-old boy who was riding in the front passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19 year-old driver suffered only minor injuries and is being treated at Jamaica Hospital.

The other passenger, who is believed to be in his late teens, remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

The teen behind the wheel had a suspended driver’s license and charges against him are pending.

There have been a rash of one car accidents involving teenagers in recent months.  We believe New York State rules and regulations need to be changed to prevent these types of accidents from happening.  The State Legislature should look into severely restricting how and when newly licensed drivers should be allowed to drive.

We have recovered millions of dollars for our injured clients and their family members in wrongful death cases.
