Marylou Pinto Killed and Patricia Vallary injured in Two-Car Crash on North Country Road in Mount Sinai, Long Island

Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a 78 year-old Mount Sinai woman on Sunday.

Marylou Pinto, 78, was driving a 2007 Kia eastbound on North Country Road when her vehicle apparently crossed over into the opposite lane of travel, near Shore Road in Mount Sinai, at approximately 4 p.m.  The Kia collided with a westbound 1997 Lexus being driven by Patricia Vallary, 68, also of Mt Sinai.

Pinto was transported by Port Jefferson Fire Department Rescue to Mather Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Vallary was transported by Miller Place Fire Department Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for her accident related injuries.

Cross over motor vehicle accidents usually result in severe and catastrophic injuries and deaths.  However, it is usually difficult to determine why a vehicle crossed over a double yellow line or median.  It is also difficult to determine if the collision could have been avoided by the oncoming vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

A thorough investigation is needed by attorneys for both vehicles to determine true fault.  If you or a loved one have been injured or killed in a motor vehicle accident, please contact Jared Levine of Morgan Levine Dolan today.
