Honda SUVs recalled in the U.S.

New York residents driving 2014 Hondas should be aware of a new recall. Although no injuries have been reported related to the problem with the Acura MDX, the potential for car accidents exists. More than 19,000 of the 2014 luxury sport utility vehicles are included in the recall.

A problem has been identified with connections between a propeller shaft and a universal joint in the vehicle’s design. Improper tightening of the bolts attaching the components leaves the vehicle model susceptible to loosening of the bolts. This could result in the parts falling out, leading to detachment of the U-joint and shaft. Accidents could result, leading to possible injuries or even death of those involved in such incidents. Although the vehicle’s defect has not resulted in any reports of accidents or injuries, Honda is working to ensure that the possibility is removed.

Customers were notified of the recall in mid-December. The popular luxury vehicle has received positive reviews from various publications, and it has become a finalist for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2014.

Individuals driving vehicles affected by manufacturer error can be at higher risk for injuries resulting from accidents. In unusual vehicle accidents, it may be important to have a thorough inspection of the structure and systems of the automobile to ensure that a defect isn’t at fault. If a defect or recall is discovered, the assistance of a legal professional may be helpful in addressing property damages, injuries and other losses resulting from such an accident.
