10 Hurt After NJ Transit Bus Hits Cab, Crashes Into Building on Washington and Market Streets in Newark

Ten people were taken to the hospital after a NJ Transit bus collided with a taxi and crashed through the front of a building in Newark early Thursday morning, knocking down street signs and scattering debris on the sidewalk.

The bus was on its way to Newark Penn Station when it hit the taxi at Washington and Market streets around 12:40 a.m. The impact propelled the bus into the building.

The bus driver suffered a minor concussion and facial lacerations. He was taken to the hospital, along with the taxi driver and eight bus passengers, where he was treated and released within a few hours. All of the victims are expected to survive.
