Walter Bonnet, sanitation driver struck by his own truck on Dyre Avenue and Light Street, may have severed leg

A sanitation worker is in the hospital after a garbage truck ran him over at Dyre Avenue and Light Street in Eastchester.

Witnesses say the man, who has been identified as Walter Bonnet, was one of two sitting in the front seat of the truck. Since both sides have steering wheels, they are not sure if he was driving at the time. They say that the truck was stuck on top of him until another worker backed off of him.

The victim is at Jacobi Hospital in serious condition. Witnesses say Bonnet may have severed his leg.

Our law firm represents several department of sanitation workers in cases involving lawsuits against co-workers.  In certain circumstances, the workers’ compensation bar does not apply to sanitation workers.  This means an injured worker can receive the full compensation for their injuries.
