Scaffolding collapse on 40th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue in Midtown injures 3

High wind apparently caused a scaffolding to collapse shortly after 10:00 a.m. on 40th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue in Midtown, injuring 3 people.

West 40th Street remained closed to vehicular traffic in the area shortly before noon.

The scaffolding landed on three people. Two good samaritans helped pull the debris off of two women.

The victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital. All were conscious and alert

A firefighter also sustained minor injuries. He was taken to Roosevelt Hospital
