Hit and Run on Flatbush Avenue near East 34th Street Leaves Crown Heights Man, Vernon Sylvester Bramble, Dead

A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 47-year-old Brooklyn man as he crossed the street on Friday night.

Vernon Sylvester Bramble, 47, who lived in Crown Heights, was crossing Flatbush Avenue near East 34th Street when he was struck around 10:29 p.m. and left for dead by the driver of an unknown southbound black vehicle.

Rescuers rushed Bramble to Beth Israel Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
