Finally a Driver, Anthony Byrd, is Arrested For Killing a Pedestrian

Police have arrested the driver of an SUV that jumped the curb onto a Brooklyn sidewalk Saturday, killing a 9-year-old boy and injuring the child’s mother and brother.

59-year old Anthony Byrd faces multiple charges, including criminally negligent homicide, assault, and reckless endangerment. The incident happened at the intersection of Dekalb Avenue and Clermont Avenue in Fort Greene just before 12:50 p.m.

Finally, a driver is being criminally prosecuted for killing someone in a car accident.  Our office has been representing the family members of several people killed over the last year.  In each of these cases, the police have refused to file criminal complaints against the drivers which caused these accidents.  While civil actions are all pending, these accidents sometime rise the level of being crimes.  We at Morgan Levine Dolan are happy the NYPD is finally taking these cases more seriously.

We have been calling for stricter enforcement of speed limits on New York City streets and more thorough investigations into pedestrian death accidents.

If your loved one has been killed in a car accident, contact Jared Levine of Morgan Levine Dolan today.
