DirecTV van hits Maude Savage while crossing Sutter Ave. in Brooklyn

A 72-year-old woman was badly injured in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon by a DirecTV van operated by an unlicensed driver. Maude Savage was crossing Sutter Ave. near her home in East New York around 12:25 p.m. when she was hit by a 2004 Chevy DirecTV van, which was making a left from Euclid Ave.

Robert Brown, 24, of the Bronx, was arrested for driving without a license. He was also ticketed for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.  Savage is in critical but stable condition at Brookdale Hospital.

Owners of vehicles which cause car accidents are liable for the injuries sustained by innocent victims.  The owner’s car insurance is responsible for covering all medical bills and compensation for pain and suffering.

A detailed investigation needs to be done to find out why this DirecTV vehicle was allowed to be driven by an unlicensed driver.  Our attorneys would look into the hiring practices of DirecTV to see if the company performs proper background checks on their drivers.
