Police Brutality: Cyclist Detained By Cops For Running Red Light Ends Up With Nerve Damage

Jorge Crespo, a Bronx cyclist, was a victim of another case of police brutality when the officers effecting his arrest caused severe and permanent nerve damage with hand cuffs.  The amount of force used on Mr. Crespo was clearly extremely excessive and apparently totally unnecessary.

Mr. Crespo should file a lawsuit against the NYPD for this incident.  However, certain strict rules apply to these types of cases.

The attorneys in our office handle many cases against the City of New York and their municipal agencies, like the NYPD.  A Notice of Claim must be filed within 90 days from the incident which gives rise to the claim.  Thereafter a hearing is scheduled by the City to learn the circumstances around the brutality.  A lawsuit follows, at which time it is important to have seasoned trial attorneys handle the case.  Having experienced attorneys from day one is most important.
