2 Seriously Injured in Crash Involving Police Car in Queens

Two people were seriously injured in an Edgemere crash Wednesday that involved an NYPD squad car.

The two vehicles, a black sedan and a police car, smashed into each other near Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 41st Street about 6:30 p.m.

When a car accident happens with an emergency or police vehicle, there are specials laws which apply.  These laws make it more difficult to win a case against the NYPD.  Certain facts need to be properly investigated such as whether the officer involved in the accident was responding to an emergency situation or whether the police vehicle had its lights and sirens on at the time of accident.

The biggest issue is all of the initial investigation is done by the NYPD themselves.  We rarely get the truth from such an investigation.  This is why you must hire a lawyer as soon as possible after an accident with a police vehicle.
