Michael Munoz, Innocent Pedestrian, Killed on Sidewalk in Queens

A car careened onto a sidewalk earlier this week, hitting and killing a pedestrian in the Whitestone section of Queens.

The victim, Michael Munoz, was struck on the Whitestone Expressway Service Road and 20th Avenue at around 2:15 p.m. while selling water. The 78-year-old driver was in a black Toyota Camry when investigators say for one reason or another, the driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into Munoz and a steel post that holds a gate entering a corporate plaza.

Over the last six months, Morgan Levine Dolan has been hired by 4 families whose loved one was struck and killed in the same exact way as Michael Munoz. The quote from Michael’s brother is all too common: “I’m angry but that’s not gonna do nothing, I’m more sad because I’m not going to see my brother again,” said Raphael Munoz.

Stricter rules and regulations are needed to prevent these types of accident from happening. All reports from this accident reveal there are no criminal charges pending.  Regardless of how a pedestrian is struck and killed, there needs to be more stringent penalties for drivers.
