Dozens of injuries following bus and car accident in New York

In New York, a Brooklyn bus collided with a car in a crash that hurt more than three dozen people. All told, 41 people were injured in the car accident, including occupants of the bus and the car. Authorities stated that the injuries were not life-threatening. Of the victims taken to local hospitals, 12 were reported to have suffered serious injuries, and 29 received minor injuries in the incident.

A witness said that the driver of the car involved in the accident was fleeing authorities and blew through a stop sign. The bus, traveling through the intersection, smashed into the car, which was described as demolished in the crash. It was reported that the driver of the fleeing car was seriously injured, the impact caving in the entire side of the Camaro. Police alleged that the man had a weapon and decided to make a break for it when officers took notice.

Rescue crews used the Jaws of Life to get victims out of the wreckage. One FDNY battalion chief said they cut the roof off the car and were able to remove the two people from inside the Camaro. They then turned to extricating victims inside the bus belonging to the Transit Authority.

A New York lawyer with experience dealing with car accidents involving injuries may be able to help victims of those crashes. A rear-end collision, rollover or head-on collision can result in injuries requiring long-term care, which can mean overwhelming medical bills. An attorney may be able to help arrange compensation for these and other damages like pain and suffering, loss of companionship and rehabilitation costs.
