Six bystanders injured in New York crash

A New York man was recently arrested on drunk driving charges after reportedly racing another driver down Second Avenue in the East Village of Manhattan just prior to careening into a storefront, resulting in injuries to a half dozen people. This isn’t the man’s first brush with the law. Reports indicate he has previously been arrested for DWI as well as possession of cocaine.

A bystander reports that, prior to the crash, the driver of a white Nissan Altima appeared to be racing another vehicle at a high speed down Second Avenue. At one point, however, it appears the driver of the Altima lost control and headed straight towards a local flower display where several people happened to be standing.

Left in the wake of destruction as a result of the crash was damaged tree, a telephone booth and a parking meter. A local bicyclist was reportedly struck by a fire hydrant that was sent air-bound after coming into contact with the vehicle. Among others who were injured as a result of the crash include three employees of the flower business. There were no reports indicating that any other vehicles were hit before the Altima came to a rest at a nearby intersection.

Those hurt as a result of someone’s negligence on the roadway may be entitled to damages they’ve suffered as a result. The damages left behind range from visible scars to emotional damage that can last a lifetime. An experienced personal injury lawyer may be able to resolve issues by helping victims of such catastrophes recover damages and assist in helping them gain monetary compensation for property damage, emotional distress or wrongful death.
