8 Hurt When Car Jumps Curb, Crashes into East Village Bodega

More than half a dozen people were injured, some of them seriously, after a car crashed into a bodega following a two-car accident in the East Village earlier this morning.

The cars crashed near Second Avenue and East Fourth Street around 7:30 a.m. The impact forced one of the vehicles off the road and it jumped the curb, crashing into the store.

Eight people were taken to the hospital, including three in serious condition, fire officials said. There have been a rash of car accidents in recent months where a car jumps the curb and strikes several people standing on the sidewalk.  A four year old girl was killed a couple of weeks ago on the upper west side.
