12 people were injured when a car drove on to a sidewalk and into scaffolding in Brooklyn last Saturday night. The car accident happened at Utica Avenue and Church Avenue in East Flatbush.
Several of the injured pedestrians were grandmothers, mothers and children. Due to a potential shortage of insurance to cover the losses in this accident, most of the victims will not be adequately compensated for their serious injuries.
Under New York Law, the car which struck all of these people is required to carry liability insurance policy limits of a minimum of $50,000 per accident. However, if this car had these minimum limits, most of those injured will not be properly compensated.
This is why it is so important to have underinsurance on your own car, even if your car was not involved in the accident. When an injured person becomes a client of Morgan Levine Dolan, we look into all potential sources of insurance to get compensation. Even if the insurance coverages do not apply to the accident, one of our jobs is to educate our clients to protect against future losses.
If you have been injured in an accident or would like to discuss your insurance coverages on your car, contact Jared Levine of Morgan Levine Dolan today.
