Operator Cited in Queens Crane Collapse at Construction Site

A crane operator and a construction site sub contractor failed to inspect crane equipment, adding to the cause of the Queens crane collapse.  Investigations into the cause of the construction site accident revealed the crane operator and sub contractors did not take proper precautions and ran the crane unsafely, causing the collapse. 

This most recent crane collapse occurred while building a Queens apartment tower in January of this year.   At least seven construction workers were seriously injuredThe collapse was the latest of several accidents in recent years. Two collapses in 2008 caused deaths and another fatal crane accident this past April are just a few examples of how impropely utilized cranes can cause serious injuries to construction workers below.
