Fatal crash on Long Island

Using a cell phone while driving a car can result in devastating consenquences, especially when trying to maneuver around train tracks. Those injuries may even prove to be fatal in some instances. While the facts of how a very recent accident happened on Long Island remain unclear, the driver of the car may have been talking on a cell phone.

The accident happened earlier today around 10 a.m. Authorities say two people were killed in this accident when the car struck an unoccupied Long Island Rail Road passenger train near the Brentwood station. Both occupants of the car were burned beyond recognition. Authorities will be investigating whether the driver was on a cell phone at the time of the accident by reviewing phone records. The train crossing warning system will be investigated as well to confirm it was in proper operating order.
